Une équipe de recherche lance un site Web participatif francophone pour recueillir des données sur les obstacles à la marche et aux déplacements en fauteuil roulant à travers le Canada.
Le site Web participatif OnMarcheOnRoule.org espère remédier à ces problèmes de mobilité piétonne et d’aménagement des espaces publics.
Les utilisatrices et utilisateurs du site peuvent cartographier trois types de « rapports », tous en lien avec les déplacements à pied/en fauteuil roulant :
- un danger ou une préoccupation ;
- une commodité manquante ;
- un incident (collision, chute ou quasi-collision).
Une série de questions sont ensuite posées à la participante ou au participant qui a déposé un marqueur de localisation sur la carte concernant cet évènement. Le processus est anonyme, mais des détails démographiques, tels que l’année de naissance, l’identité de genre, l’origine ethnique ou la situation de handicap sont colligés pour mieux comprendre qui sont les participants.
« Au Québec, à part les collisions, on n’a pas de données sur l’inconfort des personnes piétonnes ou sur les inadéquations des aménagements, et encore moins du point de vue des personnes à mobilité réduite », lance la professeure Marie-Soleil Cloutier, directrice du Centre Urbanisation Culture Société de l’INRS et cochercheuse du projet et responsable du volet francophone.
